“THE LITTLEST LIGHT ON THE CHRISTMAS TREE” SHINES AT LCCC’S STOCKER ARTS CENTER

The family entertainment event of the season will take place at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, De. 12 at Lorain County Community College’s Stocker Arts Center when “The Littlest Light on the Christmas Tree” comes to town as part of the 2007-2008 Random Acts Series.

Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for children 12 and under, and are available for purchase from the Stocker Arts Center box office, open Monday through Friday from 12-6 p.m. You can also order by phone at (800) 995-5222 (ext. 4040), or online at www.lorainccc.edu/stocker.

New this season – “The Littlest Light on the Christmas Tree” qualifies as one of Stocker Arts Center’s “Take a Chance” events, with half-price adult tickets available at the box office on the day of the show only, one and a half hours before curtain time. The “chance” you will be taking is that the event is not already sold out.

“The Littlest Light on the Christmas Tree” is a new stage musical developed from the award-winning animated feature. While Little Light is an actual character in the production, the theme expands into the "light" of belief, courage, and generosity that ultimately shines on all of the characters.  It is the Christmas season, 1942, and Americans are fighting and dying overseas in World War II. The Wiggins family, in the small town of Cedar Creek, is hit especially hard. Lieutenant Frank Wiggins, the head of the family, has been killed in action. The mother, Maggie, is struggling to make ends meet for her two children.

Timmy, the youngest, sorely misses his father and is determined to be the "man of the house" no matter how limited he is by his age and size, and by the taunts of his older sister. On Christmas Eve day, Timmy encounters the callous and greedy Mr. Girthmore, owner of the town's only department store. Girthmore fools Timmy into spending his last penny to buy a small broken Christmas tree light, telling the young boy that the bulb has magical powers. Timmy believes in the magic of the little light, and against all odds, his belief not only makes his dreams come true, but also ultimately fulfills the dreams of all.

The Stocker Arts Center is located on the campus of Lorain County Community College, 1005 N. Abbe Road in Elyria. Parking is free.
