29TH ANNUAL MASTERWORKS CONCERT AT LCCC PRESENTS “SACRED MUSIC BY 20TH CENTURY COMPOSERS”

Lorain County Community College’s Civic Chorale, Collegiate Chorale, and Civic Orchestra will present the 29th Annual Masterworks Concert featuring John Rutter’s REQUIEM at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, March 8, in the Stocker Arts Center.

More than 150 performers representing LCCC students, music educators, and community musicians from 25 different communities will perform under the direction of Nancy L. Davis, director of Choral Music Performance.  Amy Christina Hall, voice instructor at the Beck Center for Performing Arts and Baldwin-Wallace College’s Outreach Department will be the featured soprano soloist.

Rutter’s “Requiem” was composed in 1985.  The seven sections of the work form an arch-like meditation on the themes of life and death:  prayers for humanity, psalm settings including the 23rd Psalm, personal prayers, and affirmation of divine glory. The final work performed in the concert will be “ I Will Lift Up Mine Eyes,” a psalm setting by John Rutter composed in 1974.

General admission tickets are $7 and may be purchased by calling the Stocker Arts Center box office at 1-800-995-5222 (extension 4040) or online at www.lorainccc.edu/stocker.  Discounts are available.
