LCCC Student Senate and Black Progressives Club to Sponsor two Black History Month Events

The Student Senate and Black Progressives club at Lorain County Community College will present two events in celebration of Black History Month. Both are free and open to the public.

The first is a celebration to the memory and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. from 12-2 p.m., Monday, Feb. 25 in the College Center Mall.

This celebration will showcase two local talents. Lorain County’s own G3 Band will be performing, playing some of their original music. The G3 Band has performed at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and released a full-length album in 2004 titled Masterpiece.  They are preparing to release a new full-length album titled I Am Here later this year.  Ras Solo poet and performing artist will also be performing.  Ras combines a unique display of upbeat characters through four basic styles of poetic presentations that include slam, performance poetry, spoken word and soul lyrics.

The second event is a dinner/celebration at the LCCC Spitzer Conference Center from 6-9 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 27. The guest speaker is William T. Locke, Executive Director of Lorain County Community Action Agency.  This event is also free, but registration is required. Call (440) 366-7555 for more information or to register for the dinner.
