Pavlo has wowed our audiences at the Stocker Arts Center for two years in a row, and if you’ve never seen him, you’re missing out on a rare musical treat.
Pavlo says “My mission in life is to bring my music to as many people as I can, while I’m here, on this Earth.”
A Canadian born Greek composer, musician, singer, guitarist and recording artist, Pavlo grew up influenced by his father’s work ethic and inspired by his dedication to persevere and to succeed. At 10, he began to play the guitar. At 13, he composed his first song, and soon, it became undeniable the boy was gifted. While other parents would encourage a profession that might offer more security, Pavlo’s father would offer the words that would inspire Pavlo’s career: “Have the courage to do what you love, and the drive to do it well.”
Pavlo studied, performed and has been influenced by a variety of genres. When his unique approach could not be described or accurately labeled, it became clear that this master virtuoso had actually invented an entirely new style of music. Pavlo has called his sound “Mediterranean music.”
To date, he has released seven albums, and has received many Awards and nominations. He will be the subject of a new upcoming PBS special, has been nominated as Smooth Jazz Guitarist of the Year (2007), won a World Artist of the Year award (2005), has two Gold Albums, and reached Billboard’s Top 10 (May, 2005).
Pavlo’s music has been included on two episodes of The Chris Isaak Show, in a movie called “Marine Life” starring Cybil Shepherd, CTV’s “Eleventh Hour” and L.A.’s “L Word.” His music has also been featured on over a dozen CD compilations around the world.
