THE 39TH ANNUAL REGIONAL SCHOLASTIC ART EXHIBITION IS NOW ON AT LCCC’S STOCKER ARTS CENTER GALLERY
The Lorain County Regional Scholastic Art Exhibit Committee and Lorain County Community College present the 39th Annual Nordson Corporation Regional Scholastic Art Exhibit and Awards, now through Sunday, March 2 in the Beth K. Stocker Art Gallery at Lorain County Community College.
All Lorain County schools and students are invited to participate, and this year’s exhibit includes students from Amherst, Avon, Avon Lake, Clearview, Elyria, Firelands, Lorain, Midview, North Ridgeville, Oberlin, Sandusky, Sheffield/Sheffield Lake, South Amherst, Vermilion and Wellington Schools as well as Elyria Catholic, St. Jude and Lake Ridge Academy.
Honorable mention, Silver Key, and Gold Key Awards will be awarded at a ceremony recognizing the achievement of these student artists at 1 p.m., Sunday, March 2 at the Stocker Arts Center Cinema Hall. A reception for students, their parents and guests following the awards ceremony will be held in the Gallery Lobby. Regional Gold Key winners' art will then be sent on to New York to participate in national judging and exhibition opportunities.
The Lorain County Regional Exhibition is one of the Beth K. Stocker Art Gallery's most highly attended exhibitions.
The Lorain County Regional Scholastic Art Exhibit Committee is a not-for-profit organization that serves students enrolled in grades 7-12 by encouraging and recognizing excellence in the visual arts. The regional committee was established 39 years ago to administer the Scholastic Art Awards. It is the largest and longest running national art exhibition and competition for young artists in the country.
The exhibit is funded by the Nordson Corporation Foundation, with support from The Stocker Foundation, Lorain County Community College, and the Lorain County Community College Foundation.
The gallery is open to the public from 10:30a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday; from 5-7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays; from 1-5 p.m. on Sundays and also during additional weekend and evening events at the Stocker Arts Center.
