LCCC/JACK NICKLAUS SCHOLARSHIP GOLF BENEFIT SCHEDULED FOR MONDAY, AUGUST 10; LONG BALL CHAMPION MIKE ZEIGLER IS GUEST PRO
The LCCC/Jack Nicklaus Scholarship Golf Benefit, presented by First Place Bank, is set for Monday, August 10 at the Elyria Country Club.
Now in its 19th year, the LCCC Jack Nicklaus Scholarship Golf Benefit is one of the longest-standing golf events in Lorain County and Northeast Ohio. This will be another exciting day of golf in support of scholarships for Lorain County Community College and its University Partnership students.
In 1990, Jack Nicklaus helped raise more than $100,000 to establish the Jack Nicklaus Scholarship Fund at the LCCC Foundation. As the event enters its 19th year the Jack Nicklaus Scholarship Fund approaches the $1 million level - making a remarkable impact by providing financial assistance and scholarships to more than 700 LCCC and University Partnership students.
One student benefiting from the College’s scholarship program is Tyree Blakely. Tyree believes that the scholarships offered to LCCC/UP students “allow us to further our education, helps us with books…and it gives me an advantage in life.”
This year the Clinic portion of the event will feature long ball champion Mike Zeigler. As one of the top 20 big hitters in the world, Zeigler is a member of the Long Drivers of America Tour, the Extreme Distance Team and Exclusive One Ball Long Drive Team in Boston, Massachusetts.
He is a winner of the local RE/Max Long Drive Championships in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Michigan. His records include:

“Mike Zeigler will bring a new level of excitement to the scholarship event for our golfers,” said Tracy Green, director of advancement at LCCC’s Foundation. “These tough economic times make the funds raised by this event even more important for students attending LCCC and University Partnership schools.”
