RYAN STAR RETURNS TO ROCK STOCKER ARTS CENTER

Ryan Star will return to rock out for a full concert of his own at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 20 at Lorain County Community College’s Stocker Arts Center.  Star won over the LCCC crowd in May when he opened for “American Idol” David Cook.

Tickets are $10 for LCCC students, faculty and staff with a college ID, and $15 for the general public. Tickets can be ordered online at www.lorainccc.edu/stocker, or by calling the Stocker Arts Center box office at 800-995-5222 (ext. 4040) from 12-6 p.m., Monday through Friday. Tickets are also available at the box office, located in the lobby of the Stocker Arts Center. Online orders will be charged a handling fee of $1 per ticket.

A true charmer, Star is a winking, rocking, All-American flirt who also happens to be a fabulous rock musician with a wonderful ear, a rich voice and a good sense of himself within the crazy world of rock and roll. The 29-year-old native of Long Island, New York, has been performing since the age of 14. After several years with the band “Stage,” Star struck out on his own and released the album “Songs from the Eye of an Elephant” in 2005, which he recorded in his living room with only a piano and his voice. The indie-ethic and intensity he showed on the album has been compared to Eddie Vedder and Tori Amos.

To take his music to a broader audience, Star competed on CBS’s 2006 reality show “Rock Star Supernova,” where he lasted 10 weeks. Star’s high-octane performances quickly became made him a fan favorite as he showed off his stellar musicianship and natural-born showmanship.  After the show, he released a live album called “Dark Horse” and continued to play live shows across the country. His song “Last Train Home” is featured on the soundtrack of the Hilary Swank/Gerard Butler film “P.S. I Love You.” To learn more about Ryan Star, go to www.rstar.net.

LCCC’s Student Life and Student Senate are presenting Star in conjunction with the Stocker Arts Center.
