English and Spanish blend in the musical presentation “Cuentos Del Arbol (Tree Tales)” at 9:45 and 11:45 a.m., Thursday, January 28 at Lorain County Community College’s Stocker Arts Center. The one-hour show is geared toward children in kindergarten through sixth grade and is part of the Student Matinee Series.
Tickets are $4 and can be ordered online at www.lorainccc.edu/stocker, or by calling the Stocker Arts Center box office at 800-995-5222 (ext. 4040) from 12-6 p.m., Monday through Friday. Tickets are also available at the box office, located in the lobby of the Stocker Arts Center. The show is open to the public, as well as school groups.
“Cuentos Del Arbol (Tree Tales)” is a delightful musical presented in a bi-lingual format. The centerpiece of the stories is a tree (Un Arbol) that has sheltered, shielded and nurtured countless characters that have passed her way over the years. The tree’s caretaker, Arbolita, shares stories with Tomas, a storyteller, who is looking for tales for his collection. Stories include: “The Garden of the Golden Oranges,” adapted from a Spanish legend; “Brothers Who Were Both Wise and Foolish,” an adventure set in Spain; and “Caperucita Roja” or “Red Riding Hood” a perennial favorite in Spanish and English households, told with a Latino beat and rhythm. The show will be followed by a 10-minute question and answer session.
