LCCC WOMEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYERS GAIN POST-SEASON HONORS

Two members of the Lorain County Community College women’s basketball team received post-season honors.

Christa Wodarczyk (Columbia High School 2009) was named to the 2nd Team All-Ohio Community College Athletic Conference and Julia Monteleone (Avon High School 2009) earned Honorable Mention from the All-OCCAC.

Wodarczyk and Monteleone were instrumental in leading the team in its first season as an intercollegiate team and averaged 15 and 11 points per game, respectively, in conference play. The team finished with a record of 10-17.

Both players received accolades during the season. Montelone was named the Junior College Athetlic Association’s (NJCAA) Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for the week of January 6. Monteleone received the nod after nailing a career high of six three-point goals during three games in two weeks. During the spree, she averaged 19.75 points and six rebounds per game.

Wodarczyk was named OCCAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week of February 14-20. During that week, she averaged 21 points per game and shot 81 percent from the free throw line. Wodarczyk racked up a career high of 26 points in the team’s 75-72 victory over Columbus State Community College, including a free throw in the last 20 seconds of the game that sealed the win.
