Sound of Music Singalong

BE PART OF THE SHOW AT THE “SING-A-LONG-A SOUND OF MUSIC” AT LCCC’S STOCKER ARTS CENTER

The halls of Stocker Arts Center will come alive with the “Sing-a-Long-a Sound of Music” at 2 p.m., Saturday, September 22.

Audience participation lifts the film experience from ordinary to extraordinary as film goers of all ages are encouraged to dress as characters from the beloved film.

Tickets are $10 each for general admission seating. Tickets can be ordered online at www.stockerartscenter.com, or by calling the Stocker Arts Center box office at (440) 366-4040 from 12-6 p.m., Monday through Friday. Tickets are also available at the box office, located in the lobby of the Stocker Arts Center on the campus of Lorain County Community College.

“Sing-a-long-a Sound of Music” is your chance to test your vocal range with many other assorted nuns, Von Trapp family members and Julie Andrews look-a-likes. Those who come in costume may participate in a fancy dress competition. Costumes are not required but they are highly recommended and attendees will be amazed at the inventiveness on display.

The afternoon begins with a live show in which the host will lead you through a vocal warm-up, judge the fancy dress competition and award the prizes. Bill Rudman, Northeast Ohio’s own musical theatre expert, will serve as an assistant judge for the fancy dress competition. The host will then show you how to use your free goody bag throughout the film and suggest some appropriate heckles and accompanying actions (such as hissing the countess, barking at Rolf and, of course, cheering for Julie). Then, you will sit back and watch the original 1965 movie in glorious Technicolor™ with the lyrics for all the songs on the screen, so you won’t miss a chance to sing your heart out.
