Creating a new vision for our community’s college of the future.
Lorain County Community College has embarked on a new strategic visioning process called Vision 2015. The College has employed large-scale civic engagement with the Lorain County public to generate ideas for our community’s “College of the Future.” New programs and services would focus on opportunities and challenges associated with the county’s changing economic and educational climate.
Vision 2015 follows Vision 21, which defined strategic goals and initiatives put forth as a result of the 1996-1998 strategic visioning process. To date, 85 percent of the Vision 21 goals have been met. It is now time to redefine the community’s goals and priorities for the future of Lorain County Community College.
The visioning process allows for the generation of many ideas that will be filtered through a Vision 2015 Council comprised of both college and community members.
The four phases of the visioning process
I. Listening and Learning
April 2005 – December 2005
The Listening and Learning phase identified over 100 external constituent groups to gather building block ideas for the Lorain County Community College of the Future.
II. Building the Vision
January 2006 – December 2006
A Vision 2015 Council, comprised of internal and external constituents, reviewed empirical and data analysis of the future trends and issues for higher education.
III. Sharing the Vision
January 2007– July 2007
This is an internal process of confirming institutional strategic priorities and finalizing the list of possible initiatives.
IV. Acting on the Vision
September 2007
Teams will be assigned to monitor each initiative.
