Student Essay Instructions
What one book has contributed most to the story of your current life?
Use any of the following questions to guide the writing of your essay:
- What book has influenced how you live your everyday life, and how?
- What book has impacted the future you want to make for yourself and / or others?
- What book has shaped your outlook in some significant way?
- What book has given you insights that you couldn’t have received anywhere else?
- How, specifically, did this book contribute something significant to who you are?
- What key lesson(s) has this book taught you?
- How has this book prompted you to make noteworthy change?
- What would you most like your reader to know about the importance of this book in your life?
Contest Rules
A completed application form must accompany all student essays.
- No student may submit more than one essay.
- Essays must be typed in 12-point font, double-spaced.
- Do not exceed 1,000 words in length.
- The entrant's name must not appear anywhere on the submitted essay.
- Entrants are advised to keep a copy of their submissions.
- Attach your essay to the online submission form and submit no later than November 30, 2008. Click here to submit your essay online.

**Essay must be the original work of the entrant and not previously published elsewhere. Open only to current LCCC students. Full-time LCCC employees, their immediate family members, and any LCCC faculty are not eligible. The decisions of the judges are final.
