Certificate Programs


Personal Trainer One-Year Technical Certificate
The program is designed to help prepare the student to sit for a national certification exam presented by the National Strength & Conditioning Association. This curriculum will also prepare individuals to start their own personal training business or to become a private contractor. 


Group Exercise Instructor Short-Term Technical Certificate
This program will prepare students to successfully complete national certification exams in a wide venue of exercise instructor exams. Lorain County Community College has articulation agreements with colleges and universities including programs offered by LCCC's University Partnership. 

Wellness Short-Term Technical Certificate
The Wellness Short Term Technical Certificate curriculum is designed to enhance marketability within a variety of future worksite wellness initiatives. Lorain County Community College has articulation agreements with colleges and universities including programs offered by Lorain County Community College's University Partnership. 


 

Associate Degree Programs


Associate of Applied Science in Sports and Fitness Management
The sports and fitness management program offers career opportunities in private and public fitness centers; entry level management positions in the health, fitness or rehabilitation centers, recreation facilities, and retail sales. Graduates of the program may transfer to a four-year institution to continue their studies in sports and fitness management or other fitness related fields. Many students choose to study on a part-time basis. Students pursuing the associate of applied science in sports and fitness management complete courses in anatomy and physiology, nutrition, math, microcomputer applications, English, psychology, exercise physiology, business law, oral communications, first aid and safety, computer applications and personal health.

Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science
Sport Science and Wellness Education is one of four departments within the College of Education. The exercise science program prepares students for a variety of careers in health and fitness instruction, wellness, personal training, strength and conditioning, and cardiac rehabilitation.

Bachelor of Science in Sports Studies
Sport Science and Wellness Education is one of four departments within the College of Education. Our mission is to help improve the quality of life and health of individuals, families and communities. Specifically, our department focuses on the development of sport, exercise, health and wellness programs that promote physical activity and maintenance of a healthy lifestyle. The mission of the Department of Sport Science and Wellness Education is to prepare students to become professionals in teaching and related fields of sport science and wellness based upon current professional standards and ethics. We educate our students to serve people of all ages, ethnicities, cultural backgrounds, and health conditions. The department shall apply its knowledge bases, through various technologies, to both research and service activities within the University setting and to community constituencies. The sports studies program prepares students for a variety of careers in this field. Students are prepared to pursue careers in health and fitness instruction, personal training, strength and conditioning, cardiac rehabilitation, and high school, university, and professional athletic administration. Students in this partnership program are completing the sport studies track, sport management certificate.

MyTuition Guarantee
