Lorain County Community College is a Cisco Academy and offers this curriculum for both students who are starting out in the field (CCNA) and experienced professionals who need to enhance their skills and knowledge (CCNP and Security).  These programs feature current technology in converged networks and the development of hands-on skills. 

Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
The Cisco Academy at LCCC provides coursework in networking that is targeted for the CCNA certifications. Upon completion of the four, half-semester courses, the student is prepared to take the CCNA exam.  These courses are credit courses and transfer to the University of Akron four-year degree program in Networking. 

Careers associated with the CCNA program are: Network Administrator, Network Installer, and Network Engineer.

Cisco Certified Network Associate - Security
LCCC also offers the Cisco Network Security curriculum, which prepares students to take the CCNA-Security Certification.  As with the CCNA courses, this is a credit course that is transferable to the University of Akron four-year degree program in Networking. 

Careers associated with the CCNA-Security program are: Network Security Specialist.

Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
Cisco Certified Network Professional courses are offered by The University of Akron on the LCCC campus as part of the LCCC University Partnership Program.  These full-semester credit courses are part of the four-year degree program in Networking from the University of Akron. 

Careers associated with the CCNP is Level II Network Engineer and Network Technician.

Bachelor Degree in Networking via LCCC University Partnership with the University of Akron
This 3 + 1 degree program provides a cost-effective education in networking technologies and their application in business and other organizations.  Students can complete three years of coursework with LCCC course, earning a two-year degree in networking, and complete the last year on the LCCC campus with the University of Akron. 

Many of the core courses in this program are based on the Cisco Academy CCNA and CCNP curriculum, which enables the student to graduate with a four-year degree and a professional-level industry certification as well, by taking the optional certification exams. Students will have strong foundations in local-area networking (LAN) and wide-area networking (WAN), building and managing converged networks for voice, video and data applications, IT security, voice-over-IP telephony, wireless networking, Linux server management and overall network management.
