Founded in 1963, Lorain County Community College is a public, two-year, coeducational institution providing a broad range of transfer, liberal arts, education, technical, and career-related programs. The College welcomes a diverse population of students of varying ages and backgrounds.

All Lorain County Community College students benefit from a broad range of supportive services including academic advising, tutoring, learning resource and library services, childcare services, food services, and use of individualized computer laboratories located throughout the campus. International students may enroll in English as a Second Language (ESL) classes to improve their English skills for academic purposes.

There are many opportunities for participation in student clubs and organizations, campus activities, and special interest groups. On-campus performing arts productions, art exhibits, and other events are sponsored throughout the academic year. A program of intramural athletics is scheduled for all students.

In 1999 Lorain County Community College was honored to be ranked the #1 community college in Ohio by the Ohio Board of Regents Service Expectations Committee. LCCC was given the highest ranking in all eight of the areas being rated.

The Lorain County Community College campus is located in the community of Elyria, Ohio, in the picturesque Great Lakes area. The suburban campus is safe and quiet. Campus facilities include modern classrooms, laboratories, and clinics housing state-of-the-art equipment; a child-care center; physical fitness complex; bookstore; and College library. The campus is located near an interstate highway system that gives students easy access to the cultural, educational and entertainment offerings of metropolitan Cleveland, Ohio as well as other places of interest such as Chicago, Detroit, and Niagara Falls. In addition, the area's beautiful natural resources offer an abundance of outdoor recreational opportunities throughout the year.
