Meet Coach Marc Pogachar
Women's Varsity Volleyball
Hometown: Westlake, Ohio
Entering his third year as the Head Women’s Volleyball coach, Coach Pogachar hopes to build on the success of the past few years and continue growing the team from the rich volleyball resources in the Lorain County and surrounding areas. “I believe that the area high schools have some of the best volleyball talent in Ohio, and our team at LCCC offers these players a great opportunity to continue their playing careers and receive the quality education that LCCC is known for.” In 2011, the LCCC team finished 4th in the NJCAA Division III National Championships and were the NJCAA Region 12/20 Regional Champions. In 2012, the Commodore volleyball team finished the season ranked 10th in the NJCAA National rankings, and earned a Regional 2nd place finish. The LCCC volleyball team has also compiled two consecutive 4th place finishes in the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference, playing entirely against NJCAA Division II teams.
Coach Pogachar is a graduate of Miami University with a Bachelors Degree in Business Education with a minor in Marketing. At Miami, he was a member of the cross-country and track teams, earning five letters in those sports during his time in Oxford. He was also a member of the MAC Champion cross-country team during his junior year. Coach Pogachar is a graduate of North Olmsted High School, where he participated on the baseball, cross-country and track teams. After college graduation, he returned to North Olmsted High School as a Business teacher and coached middle school football, volleyball and track. Coaching in the SWC, he earned Coach of the Year honors for track.
Coach Pogachar’s career record at LCCC is 52 – 27 and in 2011 he was selected the Region 12/20 Coach of the Year. He also coached Kaylee Koller, LCCC’s first volleyball All-American Honorable Mention.
