About Us

The Children’s Learning Center (CLC) is a model early childhood program designed especially for children eighteen months to 12 years old which provides an optimal setting for learning and play. Enrollment is open to children of LCCC and University Partnership students, faculty and staff, as well as members of the community.

During the late spring and summer, the CLC is utilizes a unique learning program with the children’s garden which is located directly outside the building. “Teachable moments” are the main focus of the teaching and involvement of the children in the growing and cultivation of locally grown food.

Opportunities To Serve

Long-term & Short-term Opportunities:

Volunteers would be involved in 2 main focus activities: Classroom and Garden Assistants. Classroom assistants will work with the classroom teachers on general activities in the classroom. Garden assistants will work with the garden and could possibly have garden interactions with the children.

*Background checks are required for those who interact with the children. Due to this requirement, we ask that volunteers who complete the background check seek a long-term volunteer opportunity.
