LCCC Great Grads
Dan Forthofer
Elyria Man Earns Third Degree Close to Home
Dan Forthofer, of Elyria, is already the proud recipient of two associate’s degrees in applied business (accounting and business administration) from Lorain County Community College.
And this May, Dan will make it a trifecta of degrees when he steps up to receive a bachelor of science in business administration from Kent State University through LCCC’s University Partnership program.
“I was so fortunate to be able to complete my associates and my bachelors degrees at LCCC and the UP. I was able to stay at home and not pay for room and board at a four-year campus, plus the scholarships and financial aid I received helped me get my degrees debt free,” said Forthofer. “Being close to home and attending a college with affordable tuition paid great dividends.”
As a five-year employee at the college, he began his career as a student employee stuffing envelopes in the Marketing and Outreach Initiatives Office. Now, his day can include anything from helping students with computers to organizing and planning space for community meetings. As a staff assistant for the LCCC Wellington Center, he provides support for faculty, staff and students where needed.
With three degrees, Forthofer plans to share his knowledge and resources with LCCC students, faculty and staff. “I love the people I work with,” he said.
Catherine Worden, director of the LCCC Wellington Center, confirms his enthusiasm. “Dan meets many people in his role with the LCCC Wellington Center. Each one receives great attention and care from Dan. We see Dan’s philosophy of ‘the customer comes first’ every day here in Wellington,” Worden said.
When needed to assist with a special event or project Forthofer can also be found at LCCC’s main campus in Elyria. But it doesn’t matter which location he’s at, LCCC is his second home.
