Cleveland Man Takes First Step Toward Nuclear Medicine Career with LCCC Education
Godrich Machuta has taken his next step in his career in Nuclear Medicine by earning an associate of applied science degree at Lorain County Community College.
The Cleveland resident is certified as a nuclear medical technologist. He hopes to one-day work in a supervisory or administrative position in a hospital, doctor’s office or research center.
“This position would be in a general nuclear medicine department, or a Nuclear Cardiology and Positron Emission Tomography department,” Machuta said. “I am very excited to have taken this next step.”
To reach his career goal, Machuta is also working on a bachelor of science degree in Nuclear Medicine from the University of Findlay. He plans to graduate in fall of 2008.
Living on Cleveland’s West Side Machuta found LCCC’s campus and classes easy to access.
“LCCC has a wide offering of programs and very flexible schedules. While studying at LCCC I worked full-time and my class schedule fit in well with what I had to do,” Machuta said.
The excellent instruction he received at LCCC prepared him for his coursework at the University of Findlay, he noted. In particular, Machuta thought very highly of Associate Professor Kathy Durham. “She gave us a very good understanding of the human body through anatomy and physiology,” he said.
Machuta set his goal and is working toward it. There is no reason, he said, for anyone who has access to LCCC not to reach for his or her educational goal. “I would encourage anyone willing to enroll at LCCC to utilize this great institution,” he said.
