Jennifer Petras feels UP About Life, Graduation and the Future
Jennifer Petras, a single mother who took classes through LCCC’s University Partnership, has earned her bachelor of arts in communications from Ohio University.
“I’d like to obtain a job with a public relations firm or an advertising agency or do promotions with a major film or production company,” said Petras.
A North Ridgeville resident, Petras will be one of the 323 graduates from the eight University Partnership programs on Saturday, May 17. This previous recipient of an associate of arts degree from LCCC notes that getting to this date was no small feat. She worked part time, raised her son, Joshua, managed her father’s finances and served as her mother’s primary care giver before losing her battle with cancer—all while pursuing a bachelor’s degree.
In spite of the loss of her mother, Petras rose to the occasion and mustered all the determination she could to complete her schoolwork—something her mother insisted her daughter do before she died.
Jennifer Petras is an example to us all, on what it means to set and achieve a life changing goal, while the rest of life is weighing you down.
