Prior Learning Assessment Interest Form

Learn More About Prior Learning Assessment

Prior Learning is used to describe learning acquired by a person outside of the traditional classroom environment.  Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) is the process of evaluating life experience for college credit.  Some students come to college having experience in a field or knowledge from independent study.  Work, community service and service in the military are typical areas where knowledge gained may be assessed for college credit.  PLA allows students to accelerate their degree and avoid the repetition of coursework for material they have already mastered.  PLA credits can be used for the following:

  • To obtain advanced standing at the institution
  • To waive course pre-requisites
  • To meet general education requirements
  • To meet program/major requirements.

If you have questions, please contact the PLA team at (440) 366-4076.

To start the PLA process, please complete the form below.
