2008-2009 Senators

Laura Nash, President

Laura Nash is a business major at Lorain County Community College.  As former vice president of the Student Senate, she has also served for the past two years as the president of the Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE).

Laura has received the SIFE Service Leadership Award, the Who’s Who Among Junior College Students in America Award, the Presidential Service Gold Award, the LCCC Outstanding Student Award, the LCCC Leadership Award and she is a nationally certified student leader.  During her time as a SIFE member, her team won the LCCC Club of the Year Award, 1st place two years in a row at SIFE Regional Championship, and was first runner-up at the National SIFE Competition.

Laura graduated from Lakewood High School in 2003.

Laura’s goal is to earn a BA in business administration from Kent State University through the University Partnership, and a Masters in business.   She hopes to begin a career in public relations that will give her an opportunity to lead, motivate, inspire and empower others.

 Laura, why did you want to become a Student Senator?

 “I wanted to be a voice and listen to what my fellow students have to say, and create change.  Ultimately, I hope to lead, motive and inspire others around me.”

 

Joshua Mole, Vice President

Joshua Mole is an International Business major at Lorain County Community College.  As former financial secretary of the Student Senate, he has also held the position of president in the Multicultural Club.

Joshua received the All-Ohio 3rd Academic Team Award for 2007-2008 and the Who’s Who Among Junior College Students in America Award.

Joshua graduated from Midview High School in 2003 where he participated in the cross country and track teams. 

Joshua’s goal is to graduate with his bachelor’s degree in International Business and travel the world. 

Joshua, why did you want to become a Student Senator?

“I want to improve the well being of students at LCCC.  I want to make change and I know that I will learn how to accomplish my goals."

 

Kahla Gagne, Executive Secretary

Kahla is a biology major at Lorain County Community College.  She accepted the position as executive secretary to learn from the inside out the core of LCCC and use that to enhance the student’s daily interactions with the college.  Aside from senate she is an active member in the community using her free time in order to promote the well being of others by serving at the St. Leonard Youth Retreat center, volunteering at Elyria Memorial Hospital and the Wesylan Village, along with participating in Charity Runs.

Kahla is a 2007 of Elyria Catholic Graduate and is in her second year at LCCC.

Kahla’s goal is to obtain her Masters in Biology and make a difference in the ever changing world through her passion for the sciences.

Kahla, why did you become a student Senator?

“To make a difference in the day to day lives of students at LCCC.”

 

MacKenzie Keys, Financial Secretary

Mackenzie is a History Major at Lorain County Community College.  She loves to learn and  plans on being a life-long learner.  History and writing have always been a passion of hers. 

MacKenzie is a 2007 graduate of Elyria Catholic High School where she served as the Freshman Class President, Senior Class Treasurer and Editor-in-Chief of the student newspaper.  She loves to volunteer and serve the community.

MacKenzie’s goal is to build up her leadership skills. She wants to learn how to better interact with, work with, and lead her peers. She hopes that someday her friends, family, acquaintances, and colleagues can look back and say, "she was a great student, a fantastic leader, and an all-around great extraordinary person."

Mackenzie, why did you want to become a Student Senator?

“I became a senator to get actively involved in Student Life while voicing and listening to the comments, ideas and concerns of my peers.  I want to be an example for my community, to be an embodiment of all the opportunities, learning and growth that LCCC has to offer.”
