Health Advisory
Lorain County Community College officials have learned that a student was under the care of a physician for a possible bacterial infection that required the student to be given antibiotics. Our institution has not been made aware of what type of infection it is.
There is no reason for us to believe that our facilities have been contaminated by this possible bacterial infection. Additionally, it is our understanding that the student is not involved in any activities or courses that would require sharing personal items or engaging in physical contact with other students. As a precaution however, we are having our facilities thoroughly sanitized this weekend with EPA-registered disinfectants to ensure the health and wellness of our students and employees.
As we receive more information and guidance from city and county health officials, we will disseminate this to you. In the meantime, please be reminded to
- Wash your hands often or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer
- Keep your cuts and scrapes clean and cover them with bandages
- Do not touch other people’s cuts or bandages
- Do not share personal items (towels, clothing, razors)
