Allied Health Fair: March 31, 2010 Career Expo: April 1, 2010 |
These events have the dual purpose of aiding job seekers in their efforts to begin successful careers and facilitating the recruitment efforts of employers in their never-ending need to find and develop talent. Candidates will include students, alumni and community members.
Job Seekers:
A Career Fair is a good time for students and community members to speak with employers in their field of choice in a relaxed environment. You are able to ask employers questions regarding skills they are seeking in an employee, as well as any possible job openings that are available in their organizations. It is not necessary that you are nearing graduation in order to attend a Career Fair. In fact, it is a good idea to visit these Job Fairs and speak with employers early in your college experience in order to determine what future classes you may need to make yourself more marketable upon graduation.
You should dress professionally for the Employment Preview Day. It is important that you appear neat and professional looking, the same way you would for a job interview. You should bring at least 20 copies of your resume with you to share with the employers. Also, remember to pick up business cards from those employers that you speak with in order to follow up with them after the Employment Preview Day.
In preparation for the Career Fair it is important to also contact the Employment and Career Services department. This is a great time to enlist the help of the trained professionals in the department. They can provide many services including resume critiques, mock interviews, and jobs search workshops. You can contact Employment and Career services at 440-366-4076 or by email at careers@lorainccc.edu.
Employers:
If you are an employer looking to recruit qualified candidates, please make plans to exhibit at the event. For details, contact Mari Welch at (440) 366-4076. Or e-mail mwelch@lorainccc.edu.
