Job Search Services

Need help finding a job?  To get a jump on the competition in the job market, LCCC students, grads, and area residents can take advantage of all the services offered by the Employment and Career Services Center.

These services include 24 hour a day access to job openings in the area, individualized career advising, computerized self-assessment, job descriptions, salary information and job market data, workshops on job search topics, resume and interviewing assistance, and career fairs.

Make sure to check out online job and co-op search system, which can link you to job openings that match your interests.  When you register in the system, you become part of a candidate database.

Once you are registered in the system, you post your resume and search for employment opportunities that match your career interests and skills.

Candidate Referral
By registering, you become part of an active candidate database. Employers contact us with job openings and we list them into the system. Then you can search for jobs that match your interests- 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Free Career Exploration Workshop – the “Career Boot Camp”

The Career Boot Camp is a great way to begin your career or major search.  This is popular, one-session workshop that will help you develop a kind of “tool kit” for making sound career decisions.  These workshops help you examine your desires, abilities, temperament and assets in order to make the best educational and career decisions.  You will become familiar with resources about employment trends and the requirements of various occupations.  The workshops are offered on a regularly scheduled basis.  Click here to learn more.

Workshops and Seminars

Do you need help improving or updating your Job Search Skills?  Then you should attend one of our free workshops.  These workshops are available to you through the Employment and Career Services Center at Lorain County Community College.  The workshops cover core employment search topics such as:

  • Finding Job Leads
  • Resume Writing
  • Interviewing Skills
  • Salary Negotiations
  • Surviving a Layoff

Mock Interviews

A Mock Interview is one of the very best ways to prepare for an actual employment interview.  The Mock Interview will help you to learn what is expected in a real interview, and how you can improve the way you present yourself.  The interview is videotaped and then reviewed with you and a trained Mock Interview Coach.   The Mock Interview Coach will provide constructive feedback on all aspects of the interview process.  Click here to learn more.

LCCC Career Lab

The LCCC Career Lab, located in College Center Room 241, is for everyone from serious job-hunters to people who would just like to investigate new career options.  The Career Lab includes a Career Resource Library, with information about employers, job forecasts, industry trends and wage information.  You have access to the best career and job-search books, videotapes that can improve your job-seeking skills and CD-ROM software that can help you to develop a professional resume.

Remember that you only have one chance to make a first impression.  A professional quality resume as well as confidence and polished interview skills are important.

Individual job search consultation is also available for resume critique or assistance with interview preparation.
