Academic Foundations Division

Developmental Mathematics Faculty (2)

  

Full time tenure track position, effective fall 2013, for Developmental Mathematics Instructor or Assistant Professor, Division of Academic Foundations.  The successful candidate will demonstrate excellence in teaching, and should be interested in teaching entry level math courses from arithmetic through intermediate algebra and geometry.  Interest and experience in the use of technology to improve student learning is also desired. The teaching load is fifteen credit hours per semester, plus ten office hours per week.  Committee work and other service are also expected of all full-time faculty after the first year of employment

Minimum Qualifications:  Master’s degree in Mathematics or Mathematics Education with substantial graduate work in Mathematics and teaching experience is required. 

Full time college teaching experience in Developmental Mathematics is preferred. Experience in working with grants dealing with student success and college and course completion is desired.  Appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor is possible depending on qualifications and experience.

Applicants selected for interview will be asked to deliver a short presentation demonstrating their teaching skills and their ability to integrate technology into the learning process.

Starting salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.  The salary is supported by a comprehensive fringe benefits package.  Position pending budget approval by the Board.  Starting date is August 2013.

Engineering Technologies Division

Computer Information Systems Software Development Instructor


Lorain County Community College is seeking applicants for a full-time tenure-track faculty position in the Department of Computer Information Systems within the Engineering and Technologies Division.  LCCC is seeking innovative student-centered instructors who place student academic achievement and success as top priorities. The position would focus on teaching sections of CISS 160, CISS 222, CISS 143,  and CISS 260 and other courses, as assigned.  The standard teaching responsibility is a minimum of 15 credits per semester.  Summer session teaching is optional.  The successful candidate will be expected to advise and mentor students, participate in program development and review, actively support the college, division and its mission, and fulfill other standard responsibilities of tenure-track faculty members.

 

Qualifications:   Candidates must have at least a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems or related discipline.; a Master’s degree is preferred. The successful candidate will possess a strong background in the development of desktop, web, and/or mobile applications.

 

Preferred skills include:  .Net Framework, ASP.NET, C# and database design.  Desirable skills include iOS application development, Android application development, Java, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, PHP, Ajax, multimedia development, System Administration, Operating System Command Line (Windows and Unix/Linux).  Additionally, the applicant should be proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite.   College teaching experience is desired along with experience in distance learning and interactive classroom technologies.   Candidates should have a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and innovative active learning approaches. Commitment to undergraduate mentoring and evidence of continued professional development and teaching effectiveness is expected.  Experience working in multicultural environments and with diverse student populations is preferred.  Minority candidates are encouraged to apply.
