Division of Arts and Humanities

 

Adjunct Faculty - English

The Adjunct Instructor will teach Freshman Composition, ALP college/pre-college (possible). Offerings may include days, evenings, weekends, and / or online sections. Location will vary from the main campus; Outreach Learning Centers in Wellington, Lorain, Brunswick, and North Ridgeville; and / or delivered remotely.

Qualifications: Master’s degree in the discipline of English and previous college teaching experience is required.

Preferred Qualifications: Background with Rhetoric/Composition and familiarity with the mission of the community college.

Adjunct Faculty - German

the Adjunct Instructor will teach Beginning German. Offerings may include days, evenings, weekends, and / or online sections. Location will vary from the main campus; Outreach Learning Centers in Wellington, Lorain, Brunswick, and North Ridgeville; and / or delivered remotely.

Qualifications: Master’s degree in the discipline of German or master’s degree with native German abilities is required; previous teaching experience desired.

  


  

Social Sciences and Human Services Division 

Adjunct Faculty - Geography

The Division of Social Sciences and Human Services is seeking adjunct instructors to teach Geography. 

the Adjunct Instructor will teach Geography 152, Geography of United States/Canada.  Offerings may include days, evenings, weekends, and / or online sections.  Location will vary from the main campus; Outreach Learning Centers in Wellington, Lorain, Brunswick, and North Ridgeville; and / or delivered remotely. Must complete a brief training to be eligible to teach via videoconference (IVDL, Instructional Video Distance Learning) to outreach centers via the main course here at the LCCC Elyria campus. 

Qualifications: Master’s degree in Geography or a closely related field of study; previous teaching experience desired. 

Preferred Qualifications: Teaching experience in the discipline of Geography preferred.

   

Adjunct Faculty - Sociology

Spring Semester 2015

The Division of Social Sciences and Human Services is seeking adjunct instructors to teach Sociology for the Spring 2015 semester.

Qualifications: Master’s degree in the discipline (18 hours in the discipline is required and extensive work experience is preferred); college teaching experience is also preferred; extensive use of online technology using Courseware Management Systems will be required.

Preferred Qualifications: The ability to engage students from diverse backgrounds and employ teaching strategies that promote creativity and active learning.


Engineering, Business and Information Technology Division
   

Adjunct Accounting Instructor -  Fall 2015 Semester

Responsibilities: The Adjunct Instructor will teach all levels of accounting and / or corporate finance. Offerings may include days, evenings, weekends, and / or online sections. Location will vary from the main campus; Outreach Learning Centers in Wellington, Lorain, Brunswick, and North Ridgeville; and / or delivered remotely.

Qualifications: Master’s degree in the discipline of Accounting or Finance is required; previous teaching experience and Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or other related credential preferred.

Computer Information Systems (CISS)

Adjunct instructors needed to teach the following day and/or evenings, weekends, and blended options using Angel. Instructors also needed for the outreach locations, including Wellington, Lorain, Brunswick, and North Ridgeville.

  • Android Device Programming
  • iPod Programming (objective C)
  • Local Area Networks (Windows Server 2008 and 2012)
  • Operating systems (Windows and Linux)
  • Software Development in C# and Java

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required; Master's degree and college teaching experience preferred.


Allied Health & Nursing HPER Division

 

Adjunct Faculty – Clinical/Lab

The Adjunct Instructor will teach in clinical and laboratory course sections in the Practical Nursing and/or Associate Degree (RN) Nursing Program.  Includes supervision of students in clinical course sections and engagement in assessment activities which support the mission and goals of the Nursing Programs, Division of Allied Health and Nursing and LCCC.  

Qualifications:

Practical Nursing Program 
    • Active license to practice nursing in the state of Ohio or eligible. 
    • Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN). 
    • 2 years of nursing experience.
Associate Degree Nursing Program 
    • Active license to practice nursing in the state of Ohio or eligible. 
    • Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN). 
    • 2 years of nursing experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
Practical Nursing Program 
    • Clinical teaching experience in nursing. 
    • Masters of Science degree in Nursing (MSN).
Associate Degree Nursing Program 
    • Clinical teaching experience in nursing. 
    • Masters of Science degree in Nursing (MSN).

 

 

Adjunct Faculty Needed – Occupational Therapy Assistant 

Lab Assistant (EHOVE)

 

The Adjunct Instructor will assist students in on-site supervision in a community mental health facility in Lorain County. The OTA Lab assistant needs to be able to supervise students from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm on Mondays. First year students will rotate through the facility for 2 weeks at a time and have structured assignments to complete. This is their first level 1 fieldwork experience. Adjunct faculty needs to report back to Academic Fieldwork Coordinator. Fieldwork runs June 15 through July 20. Lab assistant for mental health classes: Wednesdays, 1-5 p.m. May 27 through July 29. Lab assistant for pediatric classes: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 1:00-12:15, August 25 through December 3.

Qualifications: Applicants need to be a COTA/L or OTR/L. AAS Degree required for COTA and Bachelor’s Degree required for OTR.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in mental health and or pediatrics preferred.

 

Dental Hygiene Instructor

Adjunct faculty members are responsible for the clinical supervision of dental hygiene students treating patients in LCCC Dental Hygiene Clinic, and the evaluation of dental hygiene students in the LCCC Dental Hygiene Clinic.

Dental hygiene procedures include but are not limited to:

  • Completion of comprehensive Medical/Dental History for all patients
  • Completion of Intra/extra-oral examinations for all patients
  • Completion of radiographic exposures for indicated patients
  • Completion of Periodontal examinations including gingival descriptions for all adult patients
  • Assessment of calculus status and periodontal scaling skill levels
  • Presentation of patient and nutritional education to patients
  • Administration of local anesthesia to indicated adult patients
  • Provision of selective polishing procedures to all patients
  • Provision of fluoride/oral irrigation procedures for indicated patients
  • Additional services may be provided

Required Qualifications:  Licensed to practice Dental Hygiene (Registered Dental Hygienist) in the State of Ohio Commission on Dental Accreditation’s mandate that clinical faculty members possess a baccalaureate of higher degree; must have current documented knowledge of the specific subjects they are teaching (see above).  All program faculty must have current documented background in educational methodology consistent with teaching assignments; must be graduates of dental hygiene programs accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation.

  • Additionally, faculty must be NERB (Board approved) for administering local anesthesia in the state of Ohio.
  • Completion of Nitrous oxide course - has successfully completed a 6-hour course including 4 hours of didactic instruction, 2 hours of clinical experience, successful completion of a written examination, and successful demonstration of clinical competency in the administration of nitrous oxide in the dental office.

Preferred Qualifications:  Master’s degree preferred; background experience as a dental hygiene clinical educator.


Primary Instructor for ODH Approved
Nurse Aide Training Program

Needed:  Adjunct faculty to teach as Primary Instructors in Lorain County Community College Ohio Department of Health approved Nurse Aide Training Program in the Lorain, Elyria & Medina areas.  Must be available to teach lecture, lab and clinical sections based on course schedule as needed.  Definite numbers of hours are not guaranteed, but rather hours as needed by the program.

Responsibilities include studnt instruction addressing topics, lab skills and clinical experience per ODH curriculum and guidelines.  Required to assist students to master skills and content and ensure compliance with course, college and state requirements including relevant documentation.  Reports to the Program Coordinator and Program Director.

Requirements:  RN with current valid Ohio license; current Ohio Department of Health Train the Trainer Certificate for Nurse Aides less than 2 years old or if TTT Trainer Certificate is older than 2 years, documentation showing teaching as Primary Instructor in a NATCEP within the last 2 years.  Employment verification letters used as eligibility for acceptance into the TTT course required.  Current AHA BLS HCP CPR card; immunizations must be current.


Surgical Technology Program

Requirements: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST), Associates degree in Surgical Technology; minimum of 3 years scrubbing full-time in surgery in a variety of surgical specialties.  Must have a professional appearance and demeanor, with a record of excellence in clinical performance; strong desire to teach, and a broad knowledge of operating room standards and practices. 


Nord Advanced Technologies Center

Adjunct instructors needed to teach the following:

Science and Mathematics Division

Adjunct Instructors needed to teach the following disciplines:

Day and evening hours are available. Offerings may include days, evenings, weekends, and / or online sections.  Location will vary from the main campus; Outreach Learning Centers in Wellington, Lorain, Brunswick, and North Ridgeville; and / or delivered remotely.

Qualifications: Master’s degree in the subject area is required for lecture; Bachelor’s degree in the subject area is required for lab; previous college-level teaching experience and experience in the use of classroom technology preferred.
