Maureen D. Hess, M.Ed., LSW
Career Development Specialist
BACKGROUND
- Career Development Specialist who has practiced what I preach. In response to a job loss, I have reinvented myself more than once: the most recent time in my 50’s. Now, with over thirteen years in career and job search consultation with Lorain County Community College (LCCC), my special interest is adults in transition. I have worked with hundreds, if not thousands, of Lorain Countians who want to “re-tool” and/ or “re-invent” themselves for success in this changing job market. My efforts include: the design and delivery of a broad range of career services including the original development and unique design of LCCC’s Work-Based Learning [co-op] program, and the Career Decision Boot Camp. I have acquired a broad knowledge of the world of work because of twenty years’ prior experience in both business and non-profit organizations. As a continuing education intern, I collaborated in the development of ABLE, an assessment instrument for life planning used by career services in area libraries.
