Transitions' "Alumni" Panel and 5 Year Anniversay Celebration! BEING HELD IN LCCC'S SPITZER CONFERENCE CENTER - GRAND ROOM
Who better to get job search tips from than those who have recently navigated the challenges that result from the loss of a job? The Monday, November 9th session of Transitions will feature a panel of Transitions’ “Alumni,” former Transitions participants who have successfully found new employment and have “graduated” from the Transitions program. Although your situation is unique, it is not uncommon. The strategies, marketing techniques, and coping skills offered from the experience of these Transitions’ alumni could be very helpful. There will be ample time for questions, too, so you will have a chance to pick their brains.
After the Alumni Panel, plan to stay a little later to help us celebrate the 5th Anniversary of Transitions. Since being founded in November, 2004, Transitions has served over 900 area job seekers. Please note that this session will be held in a special location, the Spitzer Grand Room and refreshments will be served.

Make the Holidays Work for Your Job Search
The holidays are no time to take a break from your job search! If holiday networking is done properly you can be viewed in a very positive light by all you meet.
Some benefits of holiday networking include:
• An abundance of parties, special events, and family gatherings to see and meet people.
• An opportunity to meet people in a traditional time of giving, when they are more likely to listen and help.
• The chance to lay the ground work for securing a job during the prime hiring months after the first of the year.
If you’d like to learn more about holiday networking and your job search, plan to attend the November 23rd meeting of Transitions. This session will be facilitated by Christopher Wenz, Career Specialist, from Lorain County Community College.

Don't Go It Alone: Hunting in Pairs
Looking for a job can be isolating, especially during the holiday season. Yet, just as hunters in the field often team up for reasons of productivity and safety, you can improve your results by teaming up with one other person in the job hunt.
The December 14th session of Transitions will focus on how to conduct a more effective job search by using the “hunting in pairs” technique. Phil Mikita and Cyndi McCabe, transitions specialists with LCCC’s Employment and Career Services Department, will discuss the topic, including their personal experiences with using the hunting in pairs strategy in their own respective job searches. |
