This is a hands-on course where students will create competencies, learning objectives, knowledge and performance assessments, syllabi, detailed lesson plans, PowerPoint and presentation materials according to quality standards from their own field of study.

Delivery and requirements of this online course will be as follows in a hybrid format with an initial face-to-face meeting, mid-term meeting, and an end-of-term meeting in the fall.

  • Meet face-to-face on the campus of Lorain County Community College in the College Center, Room 240.
    • Initial class meeting – Friday, August 19, 2011 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.
    • Any midterm and final class meetings will be determined at the initial class meeting.
  • The first meeting will orient learners to the course content, assignments, members of the class, and the new course management system, Desire to Learn (SpringBoard).
  • You will need a computer and Internet access to complete all coursework and assignments, etc. online. Textbooks will also need to be purchased. Your instructor will provide information on required textbooks in advance so you can order them for home delivery.
  • If you have questions about the course, you can contact the professor, Qetler Jensrud at qetler@uakron.edu.

If you are unable to attend a face-to-face meeting and you have a web cam, you may participate by IVDL (Interactive Video Distance Learning).

By enrolling in this course, you are not obligated to complete any additional courses unless you are pursuing the Postsecondary Teaching Certificate or the Master’s degree in Postsecondary Technical Education.
