TEAP stands for the TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) Educational Awards Program and is sponsored by the Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services (ODJFS) and the Ohio Board of Regents (OBR) for the 2008-2009 Academic Year.

TEAP is a new incentive award program designed to encourage needy students in pursuing education and training beyond high school.  The great thing about the TEAP is that it is for all kinds of students—those who have always done well in school AND those who have in the past struggled with classes—this means you don’t have to be a straight-A student to apply for this scholarship.

Full time students who meet the eligibility guidelines can receive up to $1,800 per year while part-time students may receive up to $900 per year.  Please note, if you receive a Stafford Subsidized Loan, Stafford Unsubsidized Loan, or Federal Work Study, this award will reduce your loan/work-study eligibility.

If you are interested in applying for the TEAP program at Lorain County Community College, the first step in the process is to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  This can be done on-line at www.fafsa.ed.gov.  For more information on completing the FAFSA, please visit http://www.lorainccc.edu/Financial+Aid/apply.htm

Representatives are available to assist you in the Financial Services Center Monday through Thursday from 8:30 AM to 7:30 PM and on Fridays from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.  If you’d like further information, please call 440-366-4034 or 1-800-995-5222 Extension 4034.
