Information for Parents

Choosing the right college or university can be a difficult decision for students and parents alike. We can help, by offering challenging academics, a course-transfer guarantee and the support of skilled advisors and counselors every step of the way.  Whether your child intends to complete his or her studies here or at another institution, LCCC is the best place to start a college education.

See why LCCC is the fastest-growing college in Ohio:

  • Many Lorain County high school students qualify for up to two years of free tuition at LCCCClick here to learn more.
  • We offer associate's degrees in over 30 specialties, including hot careers like health care, computer technology and business. We also have the area's premier technical and engineering centers, for great careers like engineering, computer-integrated manufacturing and robotics.
  • LCCC offers a wide range of courses that are guaranteed transferable to all state-funded colleges and universities in Ohio.  Your child can earn two full years of college credit at LCCC—and then transfer to a state university as a junior to complete his or her degree.
  • Our close-knit campus community encourages personal growth and discovery without many of the distractions of out-of-town institutions.  Students leave LCCC with a clearer focus of their career goals, and with the skills they need to excel in a university environment.
  • LCCC is the only community college in the state with a University Partnership program, which enables students to earn bachelor's and master's degrees from top Ohio universities—all from the LCCC campus.  These respected universities offer a total of 18 bachelor's and 12 master's degrees from our campus.
  • Conveniently located just minutes from the Route 254 exit of I-90.  Our tree-filled campus with spacious open areas offers an inviting, attractive alternative to other local educational institutions.
  • LCCC offers an outstanding academic environment with separate facilities for each major specialty.  Our highly respected faculty will challenge and motivate your child, with a focus on academic success.
  • Tuition is less than half the cost of any university in the state.  By earning two years of transferable college credits at LCCC, your child's college fund can be better conserved for his or her future academic pursuits.
  • If your child would like to get an early start on his or her college career, our Post-Secondary Enrollment Options (PSEO) program allows students to earn college credit while in still in high school.  Depending on the program, these courses may provide both high school and college credit. In all instances, college credit is awarded, and may be used at LCCC or for transfer to a college or university of choice after high school graduation.

This section of our Web site includes information of particular interest to most parents.  Please take a closer look at LCCC, and you will see that we offer much more than a typical community college.  We are uniquely positioned to provide the best foundation for your child's academic success.
