New Student Enrollment Process

New Student Enrollment Process

Welcome to Lorain County Community College and the LCCC Wellington Center!  This page is meant to be a step-by-step guide for you to complete the enrollment process at Lorain County Community College.

Step 1:  Apply to LCCC.

Apply for admission to LCCC.

Step 2:  Request official transcripts from your high school or your GED.

Request your official high school transcript or an official GED transcript be sent to LCCC's Records Office (1005 North Abbe Road, Elyria, OH 44035).  If the transcript is sent to you, please do not open it.  Transcripts must be in a sealed envelope when we receive them to be considered official.

Step 3:  Complete transfer of any previous college credits.

If you attended another college or university, complete the Transcript Evaluation Request form and return it to LCCC.  You will also need to request an official transcript from each college, university or school you attended be sent to LCCC's Transfer Center (1005 North Abbe Road, Elyria, OH 44035).  If a transcript is sent to you, please do not open it.  Transcripts must be in a sealed envelope when we receive them to be considered official.

Step 4:  Complete the FAFSA.

If you plan to apply for financial aid, complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) at www.fafsa.ed.gov.  As you complete your FAFSA, be sure to include LCCC's FAFSA school code on your application.  Our school code is 003068.  The FAFSA will determine your eligibility for federal grants, loans and the work study program.

Step 5:  Create your MyCampus login and set up your LCCC student e-mail account.

Once you receive your LCCC student ID number, create your MyCampus account login.  You will need your student ID number, your birth date, your zip code and the last 4 numbers in your Social Security Number.  Click here to go to the MyCampus login screen.  Your MyCampus account is your student account with LCCC and gives you one-stop access to your class schedule, financial aid and account information, any items on your to-do list you need to complete, web registration and much more.

Your LCCC student e-mail account is available by logging into your MyCampus account.  This account is an official form of communication from LCCC and many items are communicated through e-mail instead of through postal mailings.  If you prefer, you can set your LCCC e-mail account to forward all messages to another e-mail account you check regularly.

Step 6:  Complete the Career Advantage New Student Orientation.

Register for and complete the Career Advantage New Student Orientation.  The orientation is required of all new and transfer students to LCCC.  Orientation sessions are available at the LCCC Wellington Center and at the LCCC Elyria Campus.  An online option is also available, but the in-person orientation is strongly recommended.  To register for an orientation session in Wellington, click here.  To register for an orientation session in Elyria, or for more information on the online option, click here.

Step 7:  Complete the College Student Inventory.

All students must complete the College Student Inventory.  If you attend an in-person Career Advantage New Student Orientation, you will complete the CSI during your orientation.  If you complete orientation online, you will need to login into your MyCampus account and complete the College Student Inventory.

Step 8:  Complete the COMPASS Assessment.

As part of LCCC's commitment to your success, students are required to complete the assessment portion of your admissions.  The COMPASS Assessment will assess you in writing, reading and math to determine your readiness for college-level coursework.  The assessment is available on a walk-in basis at the Wellington Center and at the Elyria Campus.  Please plan for 2 1/2 to 3 hours to complete your assessment.  If you completed the ACT or SAT, we may be able to use your ACT/SAT scores in lieu of you taking the COMPASS Assessment.

Step 9:  Meet with an LCCC Academic Advisor or Counselor.

After completing your New Student Orientation, College Student Inventory and the COMPASS Assessment, your next step is to meet with an LCCC academic advisor or counselor.  Academic advisors are available on a walk-in basis at the Elyria Campus and by appointment at the Wellington Center.  Counselors are available by appointment at the Elyria Campus.  The advisor or counselor will discuss your CSI and COMPASS results and help you select courses for the next semester.

IMPORTANT: You must have completed the New Student Orientation, College Student Inventory and COMPASS Assessment before you are permitted to register for classes.

Step 10:  Request your LCCC student ID card.

Once you have registered for classes, request your LCCC student ID card.  You can request a card at the LCCC Wellington Center during open computer lab hours or at the Elyria Campus at the second floor circulation desk of the Bass Library/Community Resource Center.  You will be required to update your ID each semester you re-enroll with LCCC.

Step 11:  Regularly monitor your MyCampus to-do list.

Students are expected to regularly (we recommend at least once a week) check your MyCampus account for any outstanding items.  Any items outstanding should be resolved as soon as possible to delay any impact on your attendance or financial aid.  If you have any questions about items on your to-do list, please contact the LCCC Wellington Center at (440) 647-1776.

Step 12:  Purchase textbooks and supplies.

Commodore Books and More, the LCCC campus bookstore, carries textbooks and supplies for LCCC classes.  If you qualify for financial aid in excess of your tuition and fees and all items on your MyCampus to-do list have been resolved, you may be able to use financial aid funds to purchase your textbooks and supplies during a specific time period at the start of each semester.  Commodore Books and More is located in the College Center building at the Elyria Campus.  Click here for a map of the Elyria Campus.

Students can also order books online from the Commodore Books and More online site.  When ordering online, you can pay by credit card or financial aid.  Books can be picked up at the bookstore in Elyria, shipped to your home via UPS for a nominal fee or dropshipped for free to the Wellington Center for pickup.  Click here for more information on the Wellington textbook dropship.
