Medical Assisting Online Program

The medical assisting online program enables students who currently work in medical offices to earn a certificate of proficiency in medical assisting.  Students who earn the certificate of proficiency online may continue their studies and earn an associate of science in medical assisting (administrative or clinical focus).

The medical assisting certificate of proficiency can be earned primarily online.

  • Six of the seven required support courses are offered online.
  • All of the medical assisting courses are offered online with the exception of the two clinical courses (MDAS 112 and MDAS 121).  These courses are offered as a blended course and will require time in the lab and clinical time as well.

By obtaining this certificate the medical assistant will be qualified to sit for the national certification exam allowing them to become either a CMA or RMA.

After completing the certificate of proficiency the student may continue on for their associate’s degree in medical assisting (administrative or clinical focus).  The administrative tract will be 100% on line, while the clinical tract will require on-campus work for the phlebotomy content.

This is an exciting opportunity for those working in the medical office to continue working while obtaining the education to further their career.
