Circulating Laptop FAQ

What do I need to check out a laptop?
You will need a current LCCC/Library ID card and a Current Driver's License or State ID.  In addition, you will need to complete the LCCC Laptop Computer Borrowing Policy.  You may download the LCCC Laptop Computer Borrowing Policy prior to your initial laptop check out.

Who can check out a laptop?
Current LCCC or University Partnership students, faculty, or staff.

Where can I check out a laptop?
At the Circulation Desk located on the second floor of the LCCC Library.

How long do I get the laptop?
Up to 2 hours depending on when you check it out, with a renewal for an additional two hours depending availability.

Can I renew?
Yes, you may have another renewal if other laptops are available for checkout.

When can I checkout a laptop?

During Fall or Spring Semesters:
Monday-Thursday:  7:30 a.m.-10:00 p.m.
Friday:  7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
Saturday:  10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.
Sunday:  12:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m.

During Summer Semester:
Monday-Thursday:  8:30 a.m.-8:00 p.m.
Friday:  8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
Saturday:  11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.

Between Semesters:
Monday-Friday:  8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

What if the laptop is damaged or stolen while I have it checked out?
While the laptop is checked out to you, it is your responsibility.  You can be charged for any repair or replacement costs up to an including the full replacement cost of the laptop ($1,500.00).

What hardware is available on the laptops?
The laptops are Dell Latitude D630 Series with Touchpad with 2 GB RAM, DVD/CD-ROM drive options, and USB ports.  In addition, power cords and headphones are available. 

What software is available on the laptops?
The laptops have current version of Internet Explorer, Microsoft Office Suite 2007, Adobe Reader 8, and Quicktime all running under Windows XP Professional.

Can I use the laptops to access the Internet?
Yes.  The laptops are wireless and may used anywhere on the second and third floors of the Bass Library.  The laptops will print to the print workstations located near the Information Commons area.

Does the Library sell USB drives?
Yes, the Library sells USB drives.
