11/8/11
Cross-Country TeamThe Lorain County Community College Cross Country team participated in the NJCAA Division III National Championship Cross Country Meet on Saturday November 5th.

The championship meet was held on the campus of Holyoke Community College. The course was moved and changed to a road race due to the conditions after the recent snowstorm in New England.

The Men’s team came in 13th out of 21 teams. Harper (Ill.) College was crowned the national champion. There were 154 runners in the men’s race.  Martin Russ led the Commodores with a 40th place finish, running the extremely hilly 8K course in 28:39. Patrick Foreman ran a personal best of 28:42, finishing in 44th place. Also running for LCCC were Gabriel Cruz (70th place, 29:51), Ayoub Kirresh (84th place, 30:14), Sam Bickley (113th place, 31:37) and Zach Endrai (154th place, 41:04).
 
Hannah Cook finished 18th out of 107 in the Women’s race, just missing out on All American honors (top 15). Hannah ran a personal best 20:39 in the 5K race. Britt Daniels also competed for the Commodores.

This was the first year since 1981 that Cross Country was a varsity sport at Lorain County Community College. The team ran the first race of the year in 96 degree heat, and ran the last race of the year with snow on the ground-that’s cross country!

Lorain County Community College participated in the NJCAA Region 12 Cross Country Meet in Lansing Michigan (Grand Woods Park) Saturday October 29th.

The LCCC Men’s team finished 9th out of 9 full teams (there was one incomplete team). The LCCC Women’s team had two runners. This was by far our most successful meet as a team this season.

All six men and both women ran their best times of the 2011 season  so far. The team competes in the NJCAA Division III National Championship Meet in Westfield Massachusetts on Saturday November 5th.

10/15/11
OberlinThe Commodores competed in the Oberlin College Interregional Rumble cross country meet. The Men finished 13th out of 16 teams in the Open race. LCCC could not compete in the varsity race, which was limited to NCAA Division III teams. Martin Russ led the Commodores, finishing in 50th place with a season best time of 29:10. Gabriel Cruz also had his best race of the year so far, finishing in 80th place with a time of 30:11.

Hannah Cook ran her best race of the season, finishing in 20th place out of 132 runners in the Women’s Open race with a time of 25:29 in the 6K race.

The Commodores were off last weekend, but stayed in the top ten rankings in the Men’s NJCAA Division III poll, taking the tenth spot. The team will be in action at the Oberlin College Inter Regional Rumble on October 15.

9/30/11
LCCC competed in the All Ohio Collegiate Cross Country Classic at Cedarville University. There were over 300 runners in each race. The weather conditions were brutal-50 degrees, rain, wind, mud. Martin Russ posted a season-best 29:15 to pace the men. Sam Bickley cut over 3 minutes off last week’s time to finish in 32:10 for the 8 kilometer course. Hannah Cook was the lone runner for the women, posting her best time of the year (21:42) en route to finishing 239th out of 317 runners, most of whom come from four year institutions.  The Lorain County Community College Men’s team was ranked 7th in the nation-NJCAA Division III.

9/23/11
Lorain County Community College hosted the 1st annual Commodore Invitational. Some top NJCAA teams competed in the race. Lansing CC took the men’s race, while Macomb CC captured the women’s title.  PJ Foreman led the way for the men, Hannah Cook for the women.

9/17/11
The LCCC Commodores traveled to Finger Lakes Community College to race against some of the top rated teams in NJCAA Division III Cross Country. The Men’s team had a great race, finishing 3rd out of 7 teams.   PJ Foreman and Martin Russ led the way for the Blue and Gold, finishing 7th and 8th. Ayoub Kirresh ran his first race of the year, finishing in 18th place. Zach Endrai posted his fastest time of the season. Hannah Cook finished 6th in the Women’s race.

9/3/11
LCCC competed in the Bill Sudeck Memorial Cross Country race hosted by Case Western Reserve University. The weather was extremely warm, over 90 degrees at race time. Gabriel Cruz turned in the best time for the Commodores for the men, Britt Daniels for the women.

9/1/11
The LCCC Cross Country team began its first season as a varsity sport in over 30 years at the Wooster Invitational.  PJ Foreman was the top finisher for the Commodores, finishing in 7th place in the men’s 5K race. Hannah Cook was the top woman for LCCC, finishing in 28th place. Even with a 6pm start time, the weather was very warm.

The Lorain County Community College Cross Country team competed at Finger Lakes Community College’s Bruce Bridgman Invitational on Saturday September 17.

We scored 87 points as a team. Mohawk Valley Community College won the meet with 44 points. The men’s race was 8K long
The men’s team finished 3rd out of 7 teams.  There were 4 teams at this meet that finished in the top ten in last years’ national championships. The LCCC men’s team beat two of those teams on Saturday.
