• To develop a curriculum and curricular model that will prepare welding / material joining technicians for manufacturing jobs in the 21st century.
• Provide a core competency in the various areas of welding technology - processes, materials, design, and inspection, while allowing flexibility for training students to meet the needs of the local manufacturing community.
• The initial project will develop a curricular model that can be emulated by other two-year colleges for the training of welding technicians
• First step in a longer term strategy that will eventually lead to the development of a national center
Activities to be undertaken include:
| Activity 1 |
Develop working agreement among the LCCC / OSU campuses |
| Activity 2 |
Investigation and research into what a modern welding/ materials joining program should look like |
| Activity 3 |
LCCC to develop an Associates Degree program to allow students to transfer to OSU's Welding Engineering program |
| Activity 4 |
Development of a secondary school program in that introduces students to modern welding / materials joining techniques and processes and provides a process by which they can earn an Associates Degree |
| Activity 5 |
Curriculum development for modernized welding / materials joining programs at both the secondary and post-secondary levels |
| Activity 6 |
Development of a training program for secondary school educators to make them aware of the advancements in welding / materials joining |
| Activity 7 |
Bring information about welding / materials joining to under represented populations and communities |
| Activity 8 |
The delivery of seminars for post-secondary faculty to learn more about what a modern welding / materials joining technologies |
| Activity 9 |
Sharing of our curriculum with post-secondary faculty members at other institutions |
| Activity 10 |
