Walk for the Homeless 2009

Walk for the Homeless 2009

The mission of Lorain County Community College recognizes four distinct cornerstones which guide its work.  One of those cornerstones is Community.

LCCC is the community’s college and serves as an agent to enhance the quality of life in our community through partnerships and collaboration.   Over the last three years, LCCC has been very proud to offer the campus to host the Neighborhood House Association’s “Walk for the Homeless.”   The 5K run and the one mile family walk raises money to benefit the Haven Center.  On any given evening, there are more than 400 people homeless in Lorain County alone.  The average age of a homeless person is seven-years-old.  The Haven Center is Lorain County’s only year-round 24-hour emergency homeless shelter for men, women and children.

This year’s “Walk for the Homeless” raised over $50,000 dollars for the Haven Center.
