Songwriting Made Simple

College is about opportunity.  It is a place to explore your dreams and create memories.  So is the “Songwriting Made Simple” workshop.

In the early spring, award-winning songwriters Jonathan Kingham and Ryan Shea Smith spent one week in residency at Lorain County Community College’s Stocker Arts Center teaching songwriting.  Nearly a dozen schools from the area signed up for the workshop.  The ages of the aspiring writers ranged from 4th grade to high school.

The week culminated in a Student Matinee concert on Stocker’s Main Stage.  The concert’s top billing went to the students that participated in the workshop.  They, along with accompaniment from Jonathan and Ryan, were able to perform some of the songs they created during the week.
