TAKE A RADIO-STYLE JOURNEY WITH “GERSHWIN ON THE AIR” AT LCCC’S STOCKER ARTS CENTER

Travel back to the era of George and Ira Gershwin with “Gershwin On the Air” at Lorain County Community College’s Stocker Arts Center.
The radio-style show featuring Mark Flanders and Joan Ellison will be performed at 8 p.m., Friday, April 26 and Saturday, April 27 in the intimate setting of the Studio Theatre. The show is presented by Circa 1939.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for LCCC students and children ages 12 and under. Tickets may be ordered online at http://www.stockerartscenter.com/, or by calling the Stocker Arts Center box office at (440) 366-4040 from 12-6 p.m., Monday through Friday. Tickets are also available at the box office, located in the lobby of the Stocker Arts Center.

Act I of this retro radio-style extravaganza takes you back to George and Ira’s Manhattan, with songs that capture the fascinating rhythms of the Gershwins on Broadway. Then fly out to art deco Hollywood, as Act II brings you the beloved tunes the brothers penned for the Silver Screen.

Flanders and Ellison are joined by duo-pianists Jason Aquila and Jodie Ricci, and The Melody Maids, featuring Kimberly Godfrey, Lauren Emily Jones, and Ellison. The show is filled with all your favorites, such as “They Can’t Take That Away from Me,” “Embraceable You,” “Nice Work If You Can Get It,” “I Got Rhythm,” “’S Wonderful,” “The Man I Love,” and excerpts from “Rhapsody in Blue.”
