Registration Steps for New Students

If you are a new LCCC student and registering for classes for the first time, please follow these steps to ensure you are on the right path.

If you were previously a PSEO, COPP, CCP, or Tech Prep student, you may not need to complete steps one, two, and/or four.

Step One

Apply to Lorain County Community College:
Complete your application at the link above or in person at the Enrollment Services front desk, at an LCCC Learning Center or via mail. 

Step Two 

Complete the Compass
To assist you in reaching your goals, LCCC offers an assessment test- the Compass. The Compass will help identify both your strengths and areas of needed enhancement in reading, writing, and math before scheduling classes. If you have AP, ACT or SAT test scores or transfer credits, you may be exempt from LCCC’s Compass assessment test.

Step Three

Create a MyCampus Account and Complete the College Student Inventory:  
MyCampus is the online tool LCCC students use to register for classes, view grades and much more. Log into MyCampus at and find the link to the CSI on the left side of the screen. The College Student Inventory (CSI) is a survey that each new student is required to complete. The CSI helps create an open dialog, which may be with an advisor, counselor and/or student success coach, regarding individual supports and challenges you may face in starting college.

Step Four

Attend an Orientation Session
Attend an on-campus Orientation (recommended)

Step Five

Meet With an Advisor and Register for Courses
Meet with an advisor, counselor and/or student success coach to review your Compass scores, CSI results and schedule courses (during a registration period). 

Step Six

Pay Your Bill
Remember to complete your FAFSA as a first step in applying for Financial Aid. (All Trustee, Presidential and Diversity Incentive Award recipients are required to file the FAFSA.)  Learn more at or apply online at You can also pay with cash, check or credit card and/or sign up for a payment plan at
