LCCC Alerts Frequently Asked Questions

What is LCCC Alerts?
LCCC Alerts is just one tool that LCCC can employ to instantly alert mobile phone subscribers of an impending emergency or campus closure.  Other methods of notification can include local media outlets and the College’s homepage.

Will the LCCC Alerts System be tested regularly?
LCCC officials expect to test the system at least three times each semester.  We will make every effort to notify subscribers in advance of the test.  Please remember to keep your contact information up-to-date (cellular number, email address).

Is there a fee associated with LCCC Alerts?
LCCC Alerts are FREE.  However, please contact your cellular provider to determine if they will charge you for receiving text messages.

What information is required to sign up for LCCC Alerts?
The following information is required:

  • Cell phone number
  • Email address

After registering, you will receive an authorization code on your phone via an SMS/text message ensuring phone compatibility.

Will LCCC deactivate my Subscription to the LCCC Alerts System?
No, but you can text “stop” to 76903 to deactivate your subscription. Or log on to www.lorainccc.edu/alerts and click unsubscribe.

When will LCCC use LCCC Alerts?
The LCCC Alert System will ONLY be used when an emergency closure occurs or when an emergency situation is ongoing and the campus community should take immediate action to ensure their health and safety.

Will LCCC sell the information I enter to register for the LCCC Alerts system?   
Your contact information will be used only for emergency notifications.  Your information will never be sold to a third party nor will it be used for anything other than the LCCC Alerts system.

What if I elect not to subscribe to the LCCC Alerts system?
You will not receive an emergency alert via text message.  You will receive alerts by other available means (TV, home page, external siren, internal PA system).  You are not required to register for LCCC Alerts.  However, we strongly encourage you to take a few minutes to do so.

PeopleSoft System Maintenance

The PeopleSoft System and MyCampus online transactions will be down for maintenance: 

  • Sunday, December 4, 2016  
  • 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

During this time, the following services will NOT be available:

  • Access to PeopleSoft will not be available including
  • Online transactions (class registration, grades, etc.) will not be available
