The Provost reports directly to the President and serves as the Chief Academic and Learner Services Officer for the College. The successful candidate leads LCCC’s Vision 2020 Priority 1 - Drive Student Completion for Academic and Career Success, the University Partnership, K-12 partnerships, Early College High School, as well as all academic and student support divisions. The Provost/VP leads teaching and learning; academic planning; the curricula and assessment of the institution; the development and implementation of academic policy; professional development for faculty; and student support services. Additionally, the Provost/VP serves as a key member of the Administrative Leadership Team and collaborates with the Vice President for Strategic and Institutional Development and the Vice President for Administrative Services on all of LCCC’s strategic priorities.

Qualifications: Preferred minimum qualifications include: a doctorate from a regionally accredited institution; demonstrated commitment to the unique mission of community colleges; experience in higher education leadership; experience with higher education funding and performance-based funding; knowledge of emerging issues and trends in higher education; excellent communication skills; knowledge of curriculum trends that advance student success; effectively manage multiple priorities; ability to build and foster an environment of inclusion, openness and trust, continuous improvement, strategic planning and innovation; and a demonstrated commitment to shared governance and collaborative, consultative and transparent decision making.

Lorain County Community College is part of The University System of Ohio, one of the largest comprehensive public systems of higher education in the nation. The College is known for its academic innovations, commitment to students, and supportive environment for both students and employees. Lorain County Community College seeks a Dean who is an innovative academic leader and who will continue a strong tradition of excellence.

Lorain County Community College Library along with the Elyria Public Library System--North Branch is a three story, 86,000 square foot facility. The LCCC Library is a robust student support division that provides over 93,000 print book and ebook titles and over 600 periodical titles. Library materials and resources are complemented by information and research services provided by a staff that is professional at all levels. The library is part of the OhioLINK consortium of Ohio College and University libraries. The LCCC Library has two full time faculty librarians, three adjunct reference librarians, five full time staff, ten part-time staff, and 34 student assistants.

The eLearning@LCCC team provides the administration of and analytics for the college’s learning management system, Canvas, and delivers quality technical support to over 11,000 students, instructional course design, technical support, expertise in digital technologies, and training to over 110 full-time faculty and over 800 adjunct faculty, administrators, and staff. The eLearning@LCCC team has one faculty member, three professional technical staff, and three student assistants.

This position is critically important to the future growth and development of the Lorain County Community College vision for eLearning as a student-focused academic experience and provides innovative and visionary leadership in the planning, development, and implementation of the division’s library instruction programs and student support services. The candidate must be the leadership catalyst for transforming the Library and eLearning departments realizing faculty engagement and technological advancement.

The successful candidate will have a Master’s degree in Library Science or Distance Education/Learning; five years of successful experience in a library or education administration/teaching; thorough knowledge of library database systems; detailed knowledge of new learning and teaching technologies and their applicability to the college’s programs and needs; online or blended college teaching experience is preferred.
