Candidate's Position: Event Coordinator
Major:  Nursing
Years in School: 2

Biography/Past Achievements:

I am natively Zambian, a country in the South Central of Africa. I was born on December 8, 1993 in the city of Lusaka. Of five children, two girls and three boys, I am the second last born. After graduating from high school in 2010, I came to the U.S. in 2012 at Western Kentucky University (WKU) as an International Student which exposed me to so many things. Overall, it has been a great learning experience for my personal growth in becoming the confident and independent person I am today.

I was a Student Ambassador at WKU for one year, responsible for Mentoring new international students and introduced them to all that the university had to offer; conducted study group sessions; I would also explain information to international students when English was a barrier and attended and supported social activities that would smooth the transition of being an international student.

In the fall of 2013, I transferred to LCCC because I wanted to experience another part of this country which has made me meet a lot of amazing, intelligent and driven people. I am currently working as a campus tour guide. I like this job because it has pushed me out of my comfort zone. It has helped me improve my communication skills and has helped me build the courage to speak to people of various backgrounds in order to market the college.

Overall, I am looking forward to learning and improving myself while I continue my education here at LCCC. I am looking forward to being a part of the Student Senate as an event coordinator. This opportunity will give me a chance to have a full American experience and provide a cultural exchange between American students, me and my fellow international students.
