November 30, 2021 – – The Lorain County Community College Esports team’s first postseason run in their inaugural season as a varsity sport came to an end Tuesday evening as #22 Randy Wysocky lost in three rounds to #43 Navarro College in the NJCAAE Playoffs.

The Commodores wrapped up their first season playing competitive Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on the Nintendo Switch finishing with 23 wins over the nine-week regular season.  Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is a competitive fighting game that features characters from the Nintendo gaming universe.  Players play a best-of-three rounds match.  Players start each round with three lives.  The first to lose three lives by falling off the fighting platform loses the round.

Wysocky (North Ridgeville, Ohio/North Ridgeville HS) was a standout for the Commodores this season.  Winning 15 straight rounds of play (a school record) before getting dealt his first loss of the season on October 27.  After his only loss in the regular season, Wysocky ripped off three more wins to close out his freshman fall season at 8-1.

“Proud of our guys for fighting hard all season,” said Director of Esports Evan Walker.  “We’ll be back and stronger than ever next semester.  Very excited for the future of the program.”

The Commodores will take a break over the holidays and will return on February 7 for the spring semester season.
