Esports Smashes Its Way to 4-0 Sweep in Week 3

October 6, 2021 – The Commodores Esports team scored a 4-0 sweep in their matches on Wednesday against players from various schools improving their overall record to 10-2 in their inaugural season.  Lorain County Community College defeated their opponents in a best-of-five game match in the video game Super Smash Brothers played on the Nintendo Switch.

“Very pleased with the sweep tonight,” Director and Head Coach of Esports Evan Walker said. “We’ve been making strides every week so far and I’m eager to see where we can go.  I think the sky’s the limit with this group.”

Matthew Coleman (Lorain, Ohio/Elyria HS) and Randy Wysocky (North Ridgeville, Ohio/North Ridgeville HS) went 3-0 in their matches with Salt Lake Community College and Arizona Western Community College, respectively.  Avery Harssema (Oberlin, Ohio/Oberlin HS) won his match 3-1 vs. Northeastern Technical and Gavin Lincicome (LaGrange, Ohio/Keystone HS) won his first match of the year via forfeit with his player from Grays Harbor.

LCCC Esports competes in the NJCAAE with 85 other schools.  Super Smash Brothers is a competitive fighting game featuring characters from the Nintendo gaming universe.  LCCC Esports plays every Wednesday night at 6pm and all matches are streamed on Twitch.
