The Lorain County Community College women’s basketball team came within four points in the second half but eventually fell to host Southern State CC, 78-67, on Sunday, February 4.  Southern State’s lead was single digits until the final score.

Freshman guard Hannah Oehlstrom (pictured) set a personal-high with 28 points to lead the Lady Commodores.  Sophomore forward Angel Blakely (pictured, below) turned in her sixth double-double of the season as she scored 27 points with 12 rebounds, plus five steals and a trio of assists.   Sophomore Carrie Carlson — the team’s No. 3 scorer — only managed four points during a poor shooting day.

“It was a good game,” Head Coach Dr. Vince Granito said.  “We had several turnovers at key times in the game and just could not quite get the lead,” Granito offered.
Southern State CC is now 5-12 this season while LCCC falls to 5-17.   The Lady Commodores will play at Cuyahoga CC this Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
