LCCC Softball Announces Fall Pitching and Hitting Lessons
July 27, 2021 – – As the fall approaches and competition begins to ramp up, so does preparation for spring sports. The Lorain County Community College softball team has announced batting and pitching lessons taking place this fall for area softball players.
Headed up by Bill Matthews, Head Coach of the LCCC Commodores softball team, the lessons will run from October to November.
“Commodore Softball is happy to announce we will once again offer small group hitting lessons this coming fall beginning in October,” said Matthews. “New this year, we will also offer a four-day pitching series for a limited number of players that will concentrate on basic and advanced pitching.”
Pitching lessons will take place over four Thursday dates in the months of October and November. Each lesson runs for one hour in the evenings (6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.) with a cost of $105 for all four lessons. The lessons are open for 12 players, ages 11-18. Pitchers are asked to bring their own catcher.
Hitting lessons will be divided into two series: One series in October and the other series in November. Each series is divided into two age divisions (Ages 10-12 and ages 13-17), each lesson running 50 minutes. The number of spots available for each lesson is 8 players.
The lessons will cover the fundamentals of pitching/hitting, drills, technique and will provide evaluation of skills.
All lessons will take place in the Ewing Activities Center Fieldhouse to avoid any inclement weather. On hand will be LCCC Softball players, Assistant Coach Bridget Ebenger-Balla, and Matthews.
