Mike Rell Earns Fifth OCCAC D-III Player-of-the-Week Recognition

Sophomore guard Mike Rell was named OCCAC D-III Player of Week on Monday, Feb. 26 for his performance in two Commodore victories (Feb. 21 at Clark State and Feb. 24 at Hocking College). Rell lifted Lorain County Community College to a pair of triumphs last week, both on the road over conference foes. He earns his fifth Player of the Week distinction of the season after averaging 13.0 points, 7.0 rebounds (4.5 offensive), 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game in the two wins. Rell hit 11-of-20 (55%) shots, including 3-for-5 from deep. Rell ended the regular season as the Commodore’s leading scorer, averaging 13.9 ppg while shooting team-bests of 56.3% from the floor and 84.1% of his free throws (58-of-69). LCCC finished the regular season with an outstanding record of 23-5 (12-4 in the OCCAC in 3rd place). LCCC will play Columbus State on Tuesday night, Feb. 27, for the NJCAA Region XII title at Ohio Christian University at 7:30 p.m.
