REGIONAL CHAMPS! LCCC Men’s Cross Country Win NJCAA Region 12 D3 Championship; Women Place Second

XC Region 12 Champions

October 30, 2021 – – The Lorain County Community College Men’s Cross Country team won the NJCAA Region 12 DIII championship on Saturday October 30. The Commodores edged out Kellogg Community College 26-29 in a very close race. The meet was held in Lansing, Michigan. LCCC’s Mackenzie Deibel (Bay Village, Ohio/Bay HS) was the individual DIII regional champion, covering the 8K course with a time of 28:15. Caleb Cabrera (Amherst, Ohio/Amherst Steele HS) came in second, also earning All Regional honors. All six Commodores turned in season-best times today.

The LCCC women finished second to Kellogg Community College by a score of 24-33. Devin Cannon (Brunswick, Ohio/Brunswick HS) finished second, earning all regional honors. This was the first race all season that the women competed at the 5K distance.

The Commodores will compete in the NJCAA DIII National Championship meet on November 13 in Milledgeville, Georgia. Both the men’s and women’s teams are currently 12th in the latest national rankings.
